Child Safety Doesn’t Begin When a Concern Is Raised
Responding to concerns is only one part of how we ensure we are a child safe organisation.
Long before a child walks through our doors, TeamKids has systems designed to help protect children and minimise risk. Child safety influences how we recruit and screen our team members, the training they complete before working with children, the policies they acknowledge, the way services are supervised and the expectations placed on every Educator across the organisation.
Every team member understands that child safety is everyone’s responsibility and that concerns must be acted upon, not ignored.
Concerns Are Expected to Be Raised
Creating a child safe environment relies on people feeling comfortable speaking up when something doesn’t seem right.
For families, that means knowing you can openly discuss any concern with your TeamKids service team or management. Whether it is a question, an observation or something that is worrying you, we want to hear about it so we can respond appropriately.
Within TeamKids, our Educators are also expected and empowered to raise concerns. Through our internal See Something, Say Something initiative and other dedicated reporting processes, our teams are encouraged to speak up whenever they identify something that may impact the safety or wellbeing of a child.
Concerns Are Reviewed Through Clear Processes
When a child safety concern is raised, it does not rely on one person’s opinion or judgement.
TeamKids has documented policies, reporting requirements and formal investigation procedures that guide how child safety matters are managed. Our team members receive training on their child safety responsibilities and understand that breaches of policy or process relating to child safety will be thoroughly investigated.
This structured approach helps ensure concerns are considered consistently and appropriately.
We Follow Our Reporting Responsibilities
Families should never have to wonder whether a child safety concern will simply be “dealt with” at a service level.
When concerns are raised, our team follows established reporting processes and, where required, meets legal and regulatory reporting obligations. These processes exist to ensure concerns are managed appropriately, the right people are informed, and the safety and wellbeing of children remain the priority throughout.
Every Concern Is an Opportunity to Strengthen Our Practice
Protecting children requires continual learning and improvement.
When concerns, feedback or complaints relating to child safety are investigated, TeamKids also reviews the outcomes to identify opportunities to strengthen our policies, procedures and systems.
This means every concern contributes to improving how we safeguard children across our organisation, helping us continually refine the way we recruit, train, supervise and support our teams.
